Yukon Eating Out Guide

A no-tracking restaurant playbook for busy weeks, family nights, drive-thrus, and meals after class.

The ATC Plate Filter

  1. Start with protein. Chicken, steak, eggs, fish, lean beef, Greek yogurt, beans, or tofu.
  2. Add color. Veggies, salsa, fruit, salad, fajita peppers, or a side you actually enjoy.
  3. Pick one main energy source. Rice, tortilla, bun, potatoes, chips, fries, or dessert. You do not need all of them at once.

Mexican

Bowl, fajitas, or tacos

Great order: chicken or steak, beans, rice, fajita veggies, salsa, lettuce, and guac if you want fats.

  • Go easy on queso, sour cream, chips, and giant tortillas when fat loss is the goal.
  • If you want chips, skip rice or split the chips. That is the trade, not a punishment.
Burgers & grills

Keep the burger, control the sides

Order a single burger or grilled chicken sandwich, add veggies, and choose either the bun or fries as your main carb.

  • Ask for sauces on the side if the meal tends to get heavy fast.
  • Double meat can help if the meal is low protein, but skip double cheese and bacon most days.
Breakfast

Eggs first, sweet stuff second

Build around eggs or lean breakfast protein, then add fruit, potatoes, toast, or oatmeal.

  • Pancakes, biscuits, and cinnamon rolls are fine sometimes. Treat them like the carb/treat, not the whole meal.
  • Easy win: omelet + fruit, or eggs + potatoes + water/coffee.
Smoothies & coffee

Make it a meal, not a sugar drink

Choose a smoothie with protein added, or pair coffee with a protein-forward food item.

  • Ask for no added sugar when available.
  • If the smoothie has peanut butter, chocolate, juice, and sweetener, treat it like a meal.
Pizza

Pizza night can still fit

Start with salad or protein if available, then enjoy pizza slower and stop before you feel stuffed.

  • Thin crust, chicken, veggies, and lighter cheese are easier to fit than deep dish or loaded meat pies.
  • Pick pizza or dessert most nights, not both.
BBQ

Protein is easy; sides decide it

Choose brisket, turkey, chicken, pulled pork, or leaner cuts, then pair with beans, slaw, salad, or one starchy side.

  • Sauce on the side keeps sugar and calories easier to manage.
  • Fried sides plus dessert add up fast. Pick the one you actually want.
Fast casual

Bowls are your friend

Build a bowl with double veggies, a clear protein, one carb base, and sauce on the side.

  • Best default: protein + vegetables + rice/potatoes/beans + salsa or light sauce.
  • If you are still hungry later, add protein first before hunting snacks.
Coach-approved swaps

When fat loss is the goal

Keep the protein, keep flavor, and reduce the extras that do not fill you up.

  • Swap fried for grilled most of the time.
  • Swap creamy sauces for salsa, mustard, hot sauce, or sauce on the side.
  • Swap soda or sweet tea for water, unsweet tea, or diet soda.

When performance is the goal

Do not under-eat before hard training days. Protein plus carbs is fuel, especially around class.

  • Pre-class: lighter meal, easy carbs, moderate protein.
  • Post-class: protein plus rice, potatoes, tortilla, fruit, or another carb you digest well.
